Leonardo Mobility Programme

In November 2013, Francesca Scerri, a Home Support Worker was sent on a two-week placement to Rethink Mental Illness in Swindon and Salisbury in Wiltshire. During these two weeks she was given the opportunity to see how this organization functions by visiting the different services. In total, she visited six different Rethink services in the area – five registered care homes (Bath Road, Bruddel Grove, Wilton Road, Herbert House and The Mead) and one Supported Housing service (Sydney House).
This experience helped Francesca to learn more about how mental health is viewed in a different context as well as how services abroad can differ to those which are offered here. It helped Francesca to develop her professional skills and made her reflect on the work she does within the Richmond Foundation and how she can continuously work on offering the best service possible.
