The rehabilitation facility at Villa Chelsea,
has the following aims:
- To provide a model of residential and day
community-based care for those suffering from
mental health problems;
- To assist in the rehabilitation of psychiatric
hospital patients whose problems are mainly
social in nature and help them to successfully
resettle in the community;
- To reduce the 'revolving door' syndrome,
that is, aiming to prevent relapses and hence
decrease the amount of readmissions into hospital;
- To assist those persons with mental health
problems to remain in the community and to
live as full a life as possible;
- To enable users of the service to take responsibility
for themselves by gaining personal, life and
social skill, and to foster a sense of social
responsibility, membership of a community
group and active participation in the wider
society.
