Therapies

Many people go through periods in life when their mental health is challenged.  Often, the difficult times pass and the person returns to their normal self.  At times, the challenges remain and the person’s mental health is affected in the long term and the person would benefit from seeking help to deal with the situation.  In mental health issues, two types of professional help are available, medication and therapy.

Medication, which is prescribed by a psychiatrist when necessary, helps to address any chemical imbalances in the brain which affect the person’s thoughts and behaviours.  On the other hand, there are various forms of therapy which can be delivered by a wide range of professionals.  A short brief about a few of these therapies are listed below.

Terapiji

Huma ħafna dawk li jesperjenzaw fażijiet b’diffikultajiet fis-saħħa mentali tagħhom. Ħafna drabi, dawn iż-żmienijiet jgħaddu u kollox jerġa lura għan-normal. Iżda xi drabi, dawn il-problemi jibqgħu hemm u jaffettwaw is-saħħa mentali ta’ dak li jkun għal tul ta’ żmien. Għan dan, jeżistu żewg tipi ta’ għajnuniet professjonali li wiehed jista’ jfittex. Dawn huma: il-mediċina u it-terapija. Il-mediċina (tingħata minn psikjatra) tistabilixxi l-iżbilanċ tal-kimiċi fil-moħħ li jaffettwa l-mod ta’ kif wieħed jaħseb u jaġixxi. Hemm ukoll diversi tipi ta’ terapiji li huma imniżżlin hawn taħt.
