Early - Changes Everything. Strengthening Youth Mental Health

Conference - 27 May 2026

Richmond Foundation, in collaboration with Aġenzija Żgħażagħ  and Free Hour, invites you to Early – Changes Everything. Strengthening Youth Mental Health — a conference dedicated to strengthening youth mental health in Malta through early intervention, practical support, and clear pathways to help.

Delays in getting support can make recovery harder. Early intervention—spotting concerns early, responding safely, and connecting young people to the right help—can reduce escalation and improve outcomes.

Local evidence shows why these matters: in Richmond’s Youth Mental Health Barometer (2025), 85.5% of 13–25-year-olds reported experiencing anxiety in the previous three months, and 54.9% said they felt anxious “quite” or “very often.” Richmond Foundation Youth Mental Health Barometer 2026

This conference brings together professionals, educators, policymakers, parents, youth leaders and, crucially, young people themselves to share insights and collaborate on solutions. Young people will actively participate as speakers and session leaders, ensuring their voices shape the agenda.

Focused on schools, youth organisations, and sports clubs, the programme highlights how accessible support on the ground and peer support (“youth helping youth”) can encourage earlier help seeking, especially for those who feel unsure about approaching professionals.
