Our organisational values are rooted in compassion, empathy and taking meaningful action to improve the lives of others. Through this initiative, we aim to give back, extend our support beyond Malta and offer a helping hand to people who may benefit from our skills, time and commitment.
A group of managers, staff and volunteers from Richmond Foundation are providing training on Safe Guarding, delivering Youth and Teen Mental Health First Aid courses and supporting a Youth day centre.

Richmond Foundation trainers will be delivering safeguarding training within a diocese in Kenya. Through this programme, Richmond’s experienced trainers are supporting participants in strengthening their knowledge, skills and confidence to create safer environments for children, young people and vulnerable adults. This initiative reflects Richmond’s ongoing commitment to sharing expertise internationally and promoting best practice in safeguarding across communities and organisations.

A team of Mental Health Instructors will provide the Youth Mental Health First Aid course to educators in a school. The course is based on teaching participants how to provide initial support to a young person who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received or the crisis is resolved. The instructors will also be delivering the Teen Mental Health First Aid to the school students. The Teen Mental Health First Aid course teaches students how to provide initial peer to peer support to a friend or classmate who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

As part of the visit, Richmond Foundation staff will work alongside the local community to help enhance a youth day centre that provides support to young people who have experienced trauma. Through practical improvements to the centre and the sharing of knowledge and experience, the team aims to contribute towards creating a safe, welcoming and therapeutic environment where young people can heal, build resilience and look forward to a brighter future. This initiative reflects Richmond’s commitment to promoting mental wellbeing, strengthening communities and supporting vulnerable young people beyond Malta.
Sigma Foundation is supporting this project by financing the refurbishment of the Rescue Centre. In addition, Sigma Foundation will provide financial assistance for any educational requirements of the beneficiaries, as well as support their day-to-day living needs to ensure they have access to a safe, stable, and nurturing environment.

The volunteers at Richmond Foundation have benefited from the MCVS Youth Voluntary Services scheme.
The Youth Voluntary Service will help our volunteers to improve their skills, discover the value of voluntary service and help to foster a sense of community and active citizenship.

All Richmond Foundation staff and volunteers taking part in this mission are covering the cost of their own flights and accommodation. By personally funding their travel, they are giving not only their time, skills and expertise, but also making a personal financial contribution to support the mission. This commitment reflects their dedication to serving others and ensuring that the maximum possible support can be directed towards benefiting the local community and the projects being undertaken in Kenya. The young volunteers have benefited from the MVCS Youth Volunteers Service scheme to cover part of the costs.
If you wish to support Richmond Foundation, you can do so by giving your donation.
