Become a Mental Health First Aid Instructor

Richmond Foundation is looking for dedicated individuals to become Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructors.  As an instructor, you’ll have the opportunity to lead impactful sessions, educate others about mental health, and reduce stigma – all while gaining invaluable skills and experience in the field.

Eligibility

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they meet the following selection criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences and/or education

 

Selection

  • Applicants who are accredited with a Standard or Youth Mental Health First Aider will be given preference
  • Applicants who have knowledge of mental health problems, their treatments and support services will be given preference
  • Applicants who have professional experience supporting people with mental illnesses will be given preference
  • Group facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills will be assessed through the interview selection process

 

Application Process

Interested individuals are invited to submit a motivational letter along with an updated CV to hr@richmond.org.mt by no later than 30th June 2025. Please note that Richmond Foundation reserves the right to decline any application at its sole discretion.

All short-listed applicants will be able to attend the Mental Health First Aid Instructor Training Course.

 

Mental Health First Aid Instructor Training Course

The Mental Health First Aid Instructor Training course is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to become licensed instructors to train in the standard mental Health First aid course.  This course empowers participants to teach others about mental health, helping to reduce stigma and encourage early intervention for those experiencing mental health challenges.  Throughout the course, participants will gain a deep understanding of key statistics and evidence-based practices that underpin the Mental Health First Aid programme.

Potential Instructors will also learn on how to adopt a wide range of instructional techniques, learn how to effectively deliver MHFA training to diverse audiences, including corporate clients, community groups, healthcare workers, educators, etc.

Upon completion, licensed instructors will be qualified to deliver training through the Richmond Foundation.

Course Dates and Times

  • Dates: 28th July to 1st August
  • Time: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Course venue: Richmond Foundation training centre.

Course Fee: €2,000

Payment terms:

  • Option A: full course fee paid on acceptance to course.
  • Option B: Flexi Payment
    • Initial Payment: 30% of the course fee (€600) is due upon acceptance into the course.
    • Monthly Payments: The remaining 70% is divided into 10 equal monthly instalments of €150 each (which includes interest).
